Rekha Thapa in politics; wins Central Committee Member of RPP

Actress Rekha Thapa has won the election to select the central committee member of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP). In the election held on February 21, 2016, Rekha was elected in the female quota with 1,603 votes. The result was released on February 22. In the electronic voting machine total votes cated were 2,800.

Similarly another actress and singer Komal Oli was also elected the central committee member of the party in the election.

The top actress in the Nepali film industry started her political journey by befriending CPN Maoist leaders. In one Bhai Tika, Rekha offered tika to a leader. She also acted in leading role a movie produced by the party – ‘Jaljala’.

After that, she danced in a protest program with the leader, Puspa Kamal Dahal, Prachanda:

She later joined the party and was also offered a ticket to participate in the election for the party. She however couldn’t participate as she had forgotten to register herself in the voters’ list. After that, she distanced from the party. In a surprise move, Rekha joined RPP:

In addition to politics, Rekha had also started Rekha Thapa Foundation – a non-government organization to work in social sector. She also adopted four Raute children and kept in an institution. She used the kids for the photo opportunity and then ignored them completely. The parents of the kids later took their kids with them.

For controversies’ sake, she also kissed a Raute guy.

The social works and social commitments of Rekha Thapa had been short-lived. Like the children she started supporting, she had also promised to offer roles to two rape victims – Pooja Bohara and Pooja Karki. The promise wasn’t fulfilled.
