Top 10 Nepali Women of 2017

Like last year, Kantipur’s Saptahik had selected the top 10 Nepali women. The top 5 are repeated from the last year’s list (Top 10 Women of 2016) and the remaining 5 are new faces.

The list is topped by Priyanka Karki, the same actress that was on the top last year. And the second is also the same woman – ex-princess Himani Shah.

10. Samragyee RL Shah

The ‘Dreams’ debut actress is the actress of high demand in Nepali film industry. The actress was paid a high sum of money in Jharana Thapa’s debut movie as a director, ‘Kassam Hajurko 2’.

A very talented actress, Keki Adhikari started as a music video model.

8. Sipora Gurung

A volleyball player, Sipora Gurung, is better known as actress and model than as a National Player. The beautiful and tall Gurung was also one of the participant of Miss Nepal 2013.

7. Gaurika Singh

The youngest athlete in the 2016 Olympics, Gaurika is a 13 years old swimmer of Nepali origin. Gaurika lives in the USA.

6. Deepa Shree Niraula

The comedy actress Deepa Shree Niraula is popularly known as Dhaniya in radio-natak ‘Dhaniyaki Duniya’. After that, she became popular as Deepa of ‘Tito Satya’. After co-producing two successful movies ‘Chha Ekan Chha’ and ‘Woda Number 6’, Deepa debuted as a director in her third production, ‘Chhaka Panja’.

As mentioned in Namrata’s details, Deepa debuted as an actress in ‘Sangini’. Before the movie, she had worked in television serials.

5. Namrata Shrestha

The top actress of the year for her role in ‘Classic’, Namrata Shrestha is one of the most successful actress despite of a very few movies of hers. Namrata is a talented actress and dancer.

Namrata debuted as an actress when she was a little girl in a movie titled ‘Sangini’. The movie was also the debut movie of another actress Deepa Shree Niraula (Deepa is also one of the women in this list). As an adult, Namrata Shrestha debuted in ‘Sano Sansar’. The movie became hit and established Namrata as a good actress. After the release of Namrata’s second movie, ‘Mero Euta Sathi Chha’, an intimate video of Namrata with DJ Tantrik was released online. The sex scandal caused Namrata to go into hiding for more than a year. She later came back stronger. Now, she is one of the best actress in the Nepali film industry.

4. Shristi Shrestha

The Miss Nepal 2012, Shristi Shrestha, is a new actress in the Nepali movie industry. After the success of her debut movie ‘Gajalu’ Shristi is going to be featured in a number of other movies in near future.

Shristi’s affair with Saugat Mall is the talk of town these days.

3. Indira Joshi

Hot singer Indira Joshi managed to be the third most attractive woman in Nepal. In the last year’s list Indira was on the fourth position. Indira is also considered the stage queen of Nepal. She was the most attractive woman in the similar lists of the years 2014 and 2015.

2. Himani Shah

The woman in the second position is the ex-princess of Nepal, Himani Shah. Himani is selected because of her

1. Priyanka Karki

Actress Priyanka Karki entered the entertainment industry after winning Miss Teen in 2005. After that, she worked in television serial ‘Gharbeti Ba’ and also worked as video jockey and radio jockey in Kantipur publication. Before all that, Priyanka Karki had also acted in a movie named ‘Mahamaya’ as a child artist.
